Is She Still Gonna Come, Or What?
So there's no baby yet (she's about a week late) but they start the induction process on friday the 18th (by giving me stuff that forces my cervix to dilate) and will actually give me the petocin (making me go into contractions) on monday the 21st. I really hope that she comes before that cause if they do induce, the contractions will be a lot stronger and harder and I am trying to go natural. If they are too much harder than they would have been, I don't know if I'll be able to handle them; even with all the techniques we've learned. I didn't know this until yesturday, but legally they are required to push an induction by the 42nd week. After that studies have shown that the baby starts to get sick from being in there too long and the placenta starts to deteriorate, so the baby can't get enough nutrients. Some babies even come out green if left in there too long after 42 weeks. Apparently, it is almost more dangerous to have them born too late then to have them born premature. She's fine until 42 weeks, but we can't leave her in there to "cook" any longer than that. We definately need all the prayers we can get right now to help move her birth along (naturally if possible).

good morning kim :) i know kirk because he was my son ben's best friend in high school and he had something on his facebook that directed me over to here.
i wanted to pop in after reading this post and reassure you about cervadil -- oftentimes, it is effective enough that pitocin is not necessary, it helps to begin your cervix dilating and contractions begin naturally. (i know these things because i was an OB Tech for two years and worked primarily on labor & delivery.)
i am sure you have heard of another natural way to set off contractions -- by lovemaking? there are natural properties in *ahem* what is expelled by your darling husband that also may assist in getting your labor started :)
just a couple of thoughts. i have been thinking of you both as ben and kelly's baby is due on august 2nd and i know she is starting to get anxious (as is her graham!).
i will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.

Yikes! Good luck you two with the delivery. I hope all goes well with trying to do it naturally. Love you guys!
